50-Year Shelf Life Basis & Technical Review of Blue Can Emergency Water Stability Testing
Blue Can offers a 50-year shelf life guarantee for its emergency water products based on state-of-the-art manufacturing process that exceeds FDA regulations and bottled water industry standards. The FDA has established specific regulations for bottled water in Title 21 of te Code of Federal Regulations (21-CFR).
The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) further adds: The USDA, which regulates the quality and safety of bottled water, has neither set nor suggested any limitation to the shelf life of bottled water. In that regard, the IBWA’s general position is that as long as water is packaged in accordance with FDA processing and good manufacturing practices, 21 CFR, Part 129, and meets the FDA quality standard provisions as outlined in 21 CFR, Part 165, the product’s shelf life should remain intact for an indefinite period provided that product storage is as recommended by the manufacturer.
Blue Can purifies our canned water with a proprietary 13-stage process to prepare the water precisely for 50-year storage. During the canning process, each can of water is pressurized, removing all oxygen before hermetically sealing. This gives Blue Can Emergency Water the unique advantage of protection from UV light and all other possible contaminates, making the expiration of the pure-water inside a Blue Can proportional to the shelf life of the aluminum container itself. Unlike tin and steel, aluminum cans do not rust.

Lance Lougée – Response Team Logistics Chief, Hurricane Harvey 2017
“We survived on cases of Blue Can Water in response to Hurricanes Harvey (Texas) and Irma (Florida). The water was over three years old, and the supply held up really well: taste, packaging, transport, and disposal. Blue Can Water stores well in a number of places. Just stack and walk away – NO FUSS, NO MUSS. What else can you purchase and know it will be useful decades later?”
